Vietnam War Veteran Memorial Commemoration Happening Today
Today, May 21, 2019, is the one year anniversary for Montgomery County's Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. The County's Commission on Veterans Affairs will host the commemoration of the dedication of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall on Tuesday, May 21 at Memorial Plaza in Rockville.
Starting at 5 p.m., four Vietnam Veterans will be presented with "Quilts of Valor". At 6 p.m., ceremonies will include recognition of attending families whom lost loved ones in the war. At 7 p.m., dinner will be provided by Mission BBQ in the Executive Office Building cafeteria.There will also be speeches from Dan Bullis, a Vietnam veteran who chairs the Commission on Veterans Affairs, and Ike Leggett, former County Executive and past U.S Army Captain.
The dedication ceremonies in 2018 were attended by more than 400 people, many of which were Vietnam War veterans. Today's event is a great way to pay respect and honor our veterans. For more details, take a look at Montgomery County's Public Service Press release below.
